As part of the annual Armed Forces Veterans Day celebrations in Portsmouth members of Area 4 put on a large display of their models in the Conference Room of the newly refurbished D Day museum in Southsea,
Our display comprised five large tables and one small using the whole of the room, this enabled visitors to circulate around the displays and to view the models from both sides. Our new table covers and banners were used to enhance the exhibits.
The tables were grouped to show several different subjects, Aircraft Carriers and the Fleet Air Arm , World War Two Battleships and Cruisers, Destroyers and Smaller Warships of World War Two and finally Post War Warships up to the present day . The smaller table contained our radio control model tanks used for an outside display. In total we had 28 ships plus aircraft and some other items of interest on display.
Over 400 visitors came around during the day, which kept us very busy. Our thanks go to Audrey Young for keeping the score.
This is an excellent new venue to display our wares and we hope to return again in the near future.
Members participating were John Hawley, Dave Reith, Geoff Young, Ken Winter, Alan Gamblin , Alan Hall and Myself .
